Possible Rain Amounts Thursday-Monday

sioux falls, sd

We've been advertising the chances for rain late this week and into early next week for a couple of days.  While we don't expect it to be drought busting, this is definitely good news.

The first hit will be Thursday into Friday, with scattered activity over the weekend, while the main energy moves through on Monday.

Exactly who gets what will vary, but I did compare the American model over the last two days.

Tuesday's run gave east central and northeast KELOLAND the most moisture Thursday through Saturday, with more than an inch in Aberdeen and Watertown.  It also says Monday's rain will be heaviest in southeast KELOLAND with three quarters to an inch for Yankton and Sioux Falls.  If it's accurate, most of eastern South Dakota could see a total of more than an inch.

Wednesday morning's run shows lesser amounts, but we'll take what we can get.  Many locations through Saturday are at a quarter to half inch with the highest in Chamberlain.  Monday's rain also looks lighter, with more than a half inch still coming out from Pierre to Aberdeen.  The total amounts through Monday are still showing a third to a full inch for some.

Keep in mind these are numbers from one computer model and things tend to change, but it is nice to have rain in the forecast.
