Most Moisture Since October

sioux falls, sd

After a record dry summer, the snow that fell in parts of KELOLAND is good for moisture, but it's bad for those who don't like cleaning it up.

Snow amounts of eight inches and more fell in places like Aberdeen, Brookings, Huron and Marshall just to name a few.  The moisture from the snow is well beyond what we've seen in two months when three quarters to an inch of rain fell in eastern KELOLAND October 17 and 18.

Here's a look at some of the precip numbers from Friday through Sunday.  Marshall tops the list with more than an inch of liquid, followed by Huron.  Both places had more than nine inches of snow.  Aberdeen and Watertown both had over a half inch of water with snow reports of more than seven inches.  Sisseton about a third, less than a quarter inch in Sioux Falls and so on.

While the moisture is good, a lot of it will not get soaked up into the ground due to the frozen soil, but area lakes and rivers should benefit from the eventual run-off.
