KELOLAND Looks For Rain

Sioux Falls and much of southeast KELOLAND continues to look for rain. Not including today, Sioux Falls has only had four days with measurable rain. That's well below the average of twelve days for measurable rain dating back to 1990.

So far, this is the least amount of days we've had over the past 24 years. In 2006, we had seven days of measurable rain which added up to 1.02 inches. That's the same amount we've seen this May with only four days of rain.

18 days is the most rain days we've had in May over the past 24 years. It happened in 1996 which tallied just over five and a quarter inches. It also happened just last year, which helped bring just under seven inches to the city.

We're also watching the rain gage this week as Sioux Falls is still in the top ten for driest springs on record.
