Wednesday's cooler than average air should not have been much of a surprise as much of the summer has been cool.
In fact, using the current forecast for the last couple of days of July, we'll finish June and July with 38 days with below average highs, almost two-thirds of the days. The coolest was when Sioux Falls was 15 degrees below average. It happened twice, when the highs were in the 60s July 1 and 14. Of the above average days, the highest was when Sioux Falls hit 90 on June 20 nine degrees above average.
So far, Sioux Falls has seen sixteen days above average while seven have hit the climate average high.
There's one month left to meteorological summer, we'll see if the cool trend continues.
