Wolters Leads Cousy Award Voting; How You Can Help

Sioux Falls, SD

At South Dakota State University, Nate Wolters is already a household name and he is on his way to becoming one in South Dakota. The highly-decorated Jackrabbit has piled up numerous awards, shattered records and even has his own Twitter hashtag (#natersgonnanate).

Now, those living in KELOLAND have the opportunity to be a part of Wolters’ legend. The senior is up for the Bob Cousy Award for the nation's top collegiate point guard. The best part about the Cousy Award is anyone can participate in the voting. Simply go to and cast your vote.

With past winners such as Jameer Nelson, Ty Lawson and Kemba Walker, winning would put Wolters in elite company. Already leading the voting of the final 12, Wolters had 28 percent of the total vote on Wednesday morning. His next closest competition is Ohio State Junior Aaron Craft with 21 percent. The irony of that is Craft is known for his defense, while Wolters is known for his offense.

According to, the nominations are solicited across the country from head coaches and media relations personnel. From there the voting begins and is held until they reach the final five. A selection committee reviews the candidates and selects the winner on the Thursday before the Final Four.
