The move has been a topic of discussion for years, but as the league continues to head West, commissioner Tom Douple says it's time for the headquarters to follow.
"When you look at our footprint over the last number of years, it's really started to head in that direction. You know, with the addition of Omaha, and now with the University of North Dakota coming in our geographic heart has moved out in the west area into the Dakotas. That was the start of maybe we need to look at trying to relocate to better serve our members," Tom Douple said.
The Summit League will open at a temporary location in south Sioux Falls on August 1, before moving to its permanent headquarters at the Sanford Sports Complex.
