Sioux Falls, SD---The Sioux Falls Stampede officially announced their training camp roster for the 2014-15 season on Wednesday. The roster includes 29 total players, including seven players from last year’s team that won 34 games and advanced to the Clark Cup Playoffs. Click here to view the roster online.
Returners include defensemen Kris Brun and Tyler Nanne. Brun appeared in 30 games last season, posting two assists and a plus-13 rating. Nanne joined the Stampede late in the season after winning the Minnesota “AA” State Hockey Tournament with Edina High School. He skated in four regular season games, recording two assists before skating in all three playoff games.
Offensively, Sioux Falls returns Dakota Joshua, Logan O’Connor, Ryan Schwalbe and Will Graber. Joshua is the Herd’s top returning scorer having tallied 38 points (17g, 21a) in 55 games last season. O’Connor appeared in all but one game and registered 10 points (3g, 7a). Schwalbe was acquired by the Stampede through a trade with Youngstown midway through the season and posted five points (4g, 1a) in 28 games and 14 points overall on the season. Graber spent time between Sioux Falls and Brookings of the NAHL, skating in 19 games with Sioux Falls.
The Stampede also return goaltender Art Brey who went 15-13-3 with a 3.06 GAA and a .898 save percentage last season with the Stampede. In 2012-13, Brey helped lead the Dubuque Fighting Saints to an Anderson Cup and Clark Cup championship.
Of the 29 players on the roster, 13 already have Division I college commitments and 14 have played in junior hockey. The Herd will now begin preparation for their first preseason game, next Tuesday, September 9th at Omaha. Sioux Falls will play a total of four preseason games before opening the regular season at Bloomington on September 27th.
