Service To Remember Meyer On Saturday In Aberdeen

Plans are set to honor former Northern State University basketball coach Don Meyer.

Meyer, 69, died on Sunday following a nearly six-year fight with cancer. 

The cancer was discovered following a serious car crash in Faulk County in September 2008.   Meyer's leg had to be amputated.  While his return to the sidelines was in question, it was just a month later that Meyer returned to lead the NSU Wolves.  In January 2009, he broke the all-time NCAA wins record.

A service will be held in Aberdeen at the Northern State University Barnett Center on the Don Meyer Court.  That is scheduled for Saturday, May 24, at 3 p.m.  Another service will be held on June 1 in Tennessee where Meyer coached for 24 seasons at Lipscomb University in Nashville.
