BROOKINGS, S.D.—South Dakota State’s Hallie Getz (Pierre) was the runner-up at the sectional qualifier at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club in Lincoln, Neb., Thursday and is the site’s first alternate for the 2014 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship.
The soon-to-be sophomore shot a 3-over par 74 and would advance to the championship July 14-19 at the Home course in DuPont, Wash., should sectional winner Bryce Schroeder of Wichita State is unable to compete.
Getz competed in six events this past season for the Jacks, posting an 81.65 scoring average over 14 rounds. Her best finish came at the Jackrabbit Fall Invitational, shooting 246 (81-84-81) to tie for 20th. Getz posted career- and season-lows 18-hole (76), 36-hole (155) and 54-hole (235) scores at the Redbird Invitational (9/8-9/9).
