The Augustana women's golf team shot their first 18 holes at the NCAA Central Super Region Championship this morning and the team's leaning on its three seniors to propel them to the NCAA Championship.
The Augustana senior trio of Emily Israelson, Sierra Langlie, and Kali Trautman has been no stranger to postseason golf during their college careers.
"They've won multiple championships during their four years at Augustana so it's going to be hard to say good bye to Kali, Sierra, and Emily because they really have had a great career at Augie," head coach Peggy Kriby said.
This season, the senior class led the Vikings to their ninth straight NSIC championship, earning Augustana's 11th straight bid to the NCAA tournament.
"Senior year in general you just kind of start to realize how it all kind of adds up. It's been a great ride. It's been a great ride at Augie and so I think the three of us just want to end in the best way we possibly can," 2018 NSIC Women's Golfer of the Year, Kali Trautman said.
The Vikings are hoping to use some of their previous experience at this week's tournament, since they haven't been on the greens due to the wintry, spring season.
"I don't think the nerves will be as intense and we know we've just got to go out there and play our game," 2018 NSIC Tournament Individual Champion, Emily Isralsen said.
"Just to know and trust in the games that we do have, in our swings, in our process, and just know that we have the experience, we have the ability to accomplish what we want to accomplish," Trautman siad.
Overall, the senior trio is hoping to enjoy two more tournaments as Vikings.
"I love Augie and I love the experience I've had and I just want to make the most and make Augie proud for the next few weeks," Trautman said.
"We just want to enjoy these last few rounds and our last few tournaments as college golfers," Isralsen said.
The Vikings entered the Central Super Region ranked number one.
Sophomore Hannah Hankinson and freshman Alex Stone are the other two Viking golfers participating in the tournament this week.
The final round is Wednesday.
