Be Part of the Global Day of Giving on November 28
Feeding South Dakota is excited to announce a #GivingTuesday match challenge of $20,000. Because of the generosity of Paul and Mary Ellen Connelly in Sioux Falls, SD, every online donation made on Black Friday, November 24 through midnight on #GivingTuesday, November 28, will be matched dollar for dollar. Paul and Mary Ellen have been passionate supporters of Feeding South Dakota and challenge other supporters in South Dakota to take advantage of their matching gift.
#GivingTuesday is a global giving movement driven by individuals, families, organizations, businesses and communities in all 50 states and in countries around the world. Since its founding in 2012, millions of people have come together to support and champion the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live.
After two days for getting deals – Black Friday and Cyber Monday –#GivingTuesday is a day for giving back.
The reality of hunger in South Dakota is that one in every eight individuals in South Dakota is at risk of going hungry. Even more staggering is that one in every six children struggle with getting regular meals on a daily basis. Feeding South Dakota urges community members to consider giving a gift to help provide meals to the more than 190,000 individuals across the state that look to the organization on a daily basis for food support. For every one dollar donated, Feeding South Dakota can provide five meals to individuals and families who might otherwise go without, especially during the stressful holiday season.
“Giving Tuesday is a movement to inspire generosity and importance of giving back; it’s an opportunity for Feeding South Dakota to draw attention to the hunger needs in our local communities as well as across the state,” said Matt Gassen, CEO, Feeding South Dakota.
