Lawmakers Want Investigation Into Bill Tampering

Pierre, SD

Four Republican state lawmakers claim party leadership tampered with bills during last year's legislative session. Now they want a full investigation.

It stems from a letter earlier this month sent by six GOP lawmakers asking for emails and other communications from House leadership in an effort to prove that leadership was interfering with bill research.

The legislature's executive board responded by saying they couldn't meet the request because that information is confidential.

Now, four of the original lawmakers have responded by saying they don't think the information is secret and they want an impartial committee appointed to investigate these claims.
