The race for South Dakota governor is heating up as another candidate throws his name in the hat.
Former South Dakota Wildland Fire Division Director Joe Lowe has declared he will run as a Democratic candidate. Lowe says in a press release he's "running because I think our state and country have forgotten who we work for. We work for you, the people of South Dakota. Not special interest groups."
In October, Lora Hubbel announced her candidacy. She served as a State Representative from Sioux Falls in the 2011 and 2012 legislative sessions.
Incumbent Republican Governor Dennis Daugaard is eligible to run for re-election to a second term in office, but has not officially declared.
