How GOP Candidates For U.S. House Are Spending Final Day Of Campaigning

Sioux Falls, SD

In a little more than 12 hours, polls will open across South Dakota for the state's primary election. Voters will make several decisions, including who will be the Republican nominee for the U.S. House of Representatives.

On Monday KELOLAND News met up with Dusty Johnson and Neal Tapio in person, and spoke with Shantel Krebs over video chat while she was in Spearfish. We asked them, what are you doing this final day of campaigning before voters head to the polls on Tuesday?

"We've done door-to-door, we've gone out, visited some of the hot coffee spots, hot lunch spots, we've been in Rapid City and Sioux Falls in each of the last couple of days. We've also been in smaller towns," Johnson said.

"We're just west river, making our stops, we were in Belle Fourche, Rapid City, going into Sturgis yet, we're here in Spearfish, again I'm at the family restaurant, the Millstone Family Restaurant, saying hello to some voters, shaking hands, looking them in the eye, and asking them for their vote," Krebs said.

"For the last three days, we've been going door-to-door, and we've had remarkable reception, and then today I went up to Watertown, voted absentee, and then headed out to Rapid City later tonight," Tapio said.

"I'm also doing a lot of phone calls. I mean we've identified undecideds, people who don't know where they're at yet, and I'm calling them and letting them know what Dusty Johnson's going to try to bring to Washington, D.C." Johnson said.

"It's been a delight to visit with constituents and meet them face-to-face, look them in the eye, and give them a handshake," Krebs said.

"Just going and reaching the final push, and trying to make sure we have our positive message," Tapio said.
