Wal-Mart Employee Faces Attempted Murder Charges

He's accused of trying to run over a coworker in a Wal-Mart parking lot. Now the Sioux Falls man has been charged with attempted murder.

Forty-five-year-old Alemu Berhanu had been served with a stalking protection order to keep him away from 49-year-old Abraham Sandal. The two both worked nights at WalMart.

Detective Loren McManus says, "They knew each other for ten years and for two years there was some type of ongoing dispute. We're not sure at this point what."

In the protection order, Sandal says Berhanu would call him names and try to fight with him. Sandal says that Berhanu also followed him out of the Shalom Ethiopian restaurant in 2003, then assaulted, bit and punched him.

Police say Berhanu hit Sandal with a car in the parking lot last Friday, dragged him and pinned him under the vehicle. Sandal is in critical condition.
