We now know the identity of the man killed during a high-speed chase early Friday morning.
62-year old Curtis Neuharth of Sioux Falls died when the subject of a high-speed chase involving the highway patrol hit his pickup truck.
Troopers say around 2:30 Friday morning 30-year-old Jason Larsen-Smith of Sioux Falls took off in a red Ford Explorer when the trooper tried to pull him over for suspicion of drunk driving. The-30-year old led the trooper along several roads until he crashed at 12th Street and Tea-Ellis Road.
"He ran through a red light, struck a 2001 ford ranger pickup broadside in the intersection," Lt. Jerome Miller of the Sioux Falls Police department said.
Larsen-Smith faces several charges including drunk driving, vehicular homicide, driving with a revoked license, and eluding. He suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Neuharth died at the scene. He was a custodian at Axtel Park Middle School.
