A North Dakota man accused in a South Dakota killing has been transferred to that state to face a first-degree murder charge.
Codington County Sheriff Toby Wishard says 43 year-old Steven Helm of Bismarck was booked into the jail in Watertown early Thursday. The killing happened in Hamlin County but that county does not have a jail.
Helm is accused in the death of 33-year-old Jesse James Gisi of Watertown. Gisi's body was found Sunday near a corn field in east-central South Dakota. Authorities say he died of a single gunshot wound.
Helm waived extradition to South Dakota during a court hearing in Bismarck on Tuesday. His bond has been set at $1 million.
