Storm Staying In The IFL

Sioux Falls, SD

The deadline to commit to the Indoor Football League came Wednesday and despite a rocky past with some of the competing teams in the IFL, Sioux Falls Storm Owner Todd Tryon thinks that's where his team needs to be.

Tryon has submitted the team's commitment for this upcoming season. He says he's happy to be a part of the league and he hopes the IFL can continue to get better.

"Is there improvements to be made, absolutely. When you're in an owner runned league, things change on the fly. I'm happy with our league. For the majority, we've got some very strong owners. It's just continuing to weed out those weak links. It seems like the weak links make the most noise and cause the most problems. We're doing our best to weed those types of people out and attract some stronger ownership groups," Tryon said.

While sticking with the league is a big enough announcement in itself, Storm fans will be happy to know that head coach Kurtiss Riggs has signed on for another two years. Riggs says he didn't think he'd be back but after talking it over with his family, he knew this was the right decision.

"We sat down and we looked at the pros and cons, the good things and bad things and there was far greater good than bad. We just felt like we greatly enjoy it still. It something that my family all the way down to my nine year old daughter love to be a part of and we would really like to see the Storm go into the new event center. That's something we want to be a part of," Riggs said.

Riggs will enter his 11th season. He has coached the franchise to 6 national titles during that time and a record of 140-and-28.
