Some former Alltel subscribers in South Dakota are complaining about poor service after the transition to AT&T, but problems appear minor.
Carole Quiram says clients at her day care have had trouble reaching her since the switch. She was one of a number of people at the AT&T store in Sioux Falls this week trying to resolve issues.
Company spokesman Hardmon Williams says the transition is going "terrific" and that the company has brought in experts to service customers. The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission says it has received fewer than 40 complaints, a minimal number considering AT&T is transitioning about 200,000 customers.
AT&T bought Alltel's customer base when it acquired former Alltel assets from Verizon last June. Verizon bought Alltel in 2008.
