Sioux Falls Conducts Sobriety Checkpoint

Officers stopped vehicles on Interstate 229 to see if drivers had been drinking before they got behind the wheel this weekend.

The checkpoint ran from 10:00 Friday night to 2:00 Saturday morning.

Authorities arrested seven people by midnight. Police say some arrests made during the checkpoint were drug-related.

The highway patrol says checkpoints are a useful tool in getting drunk drivers off the road, as well as keeping people from drinking and driving in the first place.
