SD Soldiers Bound For Afghanistan Leave The State

PIERRE, SD


Members of the South Dakota National Guard's 200th Engineer Company who are destined for duty in Afghanistan left the state Monday morning.

Four buses of soldiers departed Pierre for Fort McCoy, Wis, where they will do their final training before heading overseas for about a year.

The unit has about 185 members and specializes in building and maintaining bridges. It's based in Pierre with detachments in Chamberlain and Mobridge.
