A Deadwood man accused of shooting and injuring two of his neighbors has been found guilty but mentally ill.
A jury deliberated about 10 hours before issuing its verdict Friday in the trial of 48-year-old Terry Willis, who was charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault. Willis was convicted of shooting Terry Steinbach and his adult son, Monte, on Feb. 12. Terry Steinbach was shot in the wrist and his son in the abdomen.
Police reports say Willis claimed his wife and dogs had been harassed by his upstairs neighbors after a dispute over parking. Willis' attorneys have said Steinbach lost a leg to diabetes last year, and developed major depression with paranoid and
Prosecutors said Willis is not mentally ill but simply anti-social.
