SD Congressional Delegation Reacts To Obama Speech

President Barack Obama's $450 billion jobs initiative is drawing both skepticism and support from members of South Dakota's congressional delegation.

Obama unveiled the plan in a nationally televised speech Thursday night. It will need the backing of congressional Republicans.

South Dakota Republican Sen. John Thune says he thinks the plan is another round of government stimulus, and he had hoped Obama would go in a different direction.

Republican Rep. Kristi Noem says the country can't afford the additional economic stimulus Obama is proposing, though she stopped short of ruling out supporting a tax cut.

Democratic Sen. Tim Johnson praised Obama's plan, saying "it can put people to work today to build a stronger American for tomorrow."
