Saturday Boredom Busters

     The Great Cardboard Boat Race is a competition to determine the best cardboard shipbuilders in Sioux Falls.
     Registration is at 9 am at Kuehn Park Pool.
     The competition begins at 10 am.
     The race is free to enter and the public is invited to watch.
     Boats will be judged on creativity, seaworthiness and quickest to sink.
     Prizes will be awarded.

     The Brookings Summer Arts Festival is taking place this weekend at Pioneer Park in Brookings.
     The free festival goes from 10 am to 7 pm today, and 10 am to 5 pm Sunday.
     Parking is available on the side streets and public parking lots downtown.
     Shuttle buses will run continually from the First Bank & Trust East Bank's parking lot at 6th Street and 22nd Avenue.

     Bring a lawn chair to Platte for Reign Fest, a Christian music concert featuring Dave the Horn Guy, Layne Timmerman and Brandon Heath.
     Reign Fest begins at 5 pm with a meet and greet, the music begins at 5:30 pm.
     The free festival will be held at South Park in Platte.

     Big Miracle, rated PG, is tonight's free Moonlight Movie at Fawick Park in downtown Sioux Falls.
     The movie begins at dusk.
     The Sioux Empire Jaycees will sell refreshments during the movie.

     Bicycle to the Downtown Riverfront Amphitheatre in Sioux Falls for a discussion of the book The Lost Cyclist by David Herlihy.
     The free Books & Bikes gathering hosted by Siouxland Libraries begins at 10 am.

     Day two of Hot Harley Nights gets underway at 9 am with displays, live music, auctions and raffles at J & L Harley Davidson in Sioux Falls.
     A casino run from Sioux Falls to Brandon goes from noon to 6 pm.
     A police-escorted motorcycle parade led by Make-A-Wish kids will leave J&L at 6:30 pm and travel through downtown Sioux Falls.
     And  ZZ-3,  a ZZ Top tribute band performs downtown in the evening.

     Christian Youth Activity League is hosting Hoopin for Hope & Family Festival beginning at 11 am at Covell Lake Recreation Area across the street from the Sioux Falls Arena.
     Activities include a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, a 3-point shootout, a dunk contest, food, live music, a talent show, and prizes.

     Construction progress on the new west branch library will be the topic of Mayor Mike Huether's Listening & Learning Session
      It's at the Hy-Vee on South Marion Road from 9-10:30 am.

     Roll up your sleeves and join in the digging at Archeology Days at the Mitchell Prehistoric Indian Village this weekend.
     Learn about prehistoric pottery, and watch students and archeologists make new discoveries from 10 am to 5 pm today and Sunday.
     The Prehistoric Indian Village is located on Lake Mitchell, three minutes north of the Corn Palace.
