Pierre Woman Elected President Of Rural Health Org

PIERRE, SD


A national association that advocates on rural health issues has named a Pierre woman as its next president.

Sandi Durick will serve as president-elect of the National Rural Health Association starting Jan. 1. She will take over as president in 2013. More than 20,000 people belong to the nonprofit organization that provides leadership on rural issues.

Durick has been the administrator of South Dakota Department of Health Office of Rural Health since 2007. She has been with the department since 1979.

Secretary of Health Doneen Hollingsworth says it's an honor to have a South Dakotan lead the nation's largest rural health organization.

Hollingsworth says Durick has played an important role in developing state rural health initiatives and programs.
