Pierre Shooting

A Pierre man was arrested early this morning after a four-hour stand-off with authorities that prompted the evacuation of nearby homes. Police Lieutenant David Panzer Junior says 29-year-old Shane Provost has been charged with aggravated assault and firearm violations. Police say more charges are likely. Police say Provost fired at least one shot at someone, but no one was hurt. The incident began around 3:55 this morning when a patrol officer heard a gunshot at a home. Nearby homes were evacuated as a result. Provost was eventually taken into custody. Panzer says the episode apparently began as a result of a domestic dispute. There were no hostages taken in the stand-off.
