Occupy Atlanta demonstrators are planning to protest a proposed oil pipeline that would carry oil from Canada through Montana, South Dakota and Nebraska.
The group said in a statement that it plans the protest for Friday afternoon outside CNN's headquarters.
The proposed Keystone XL pipeline, which would carry oil from Canada's tar sands region, has drawn opposition from some landowners in the Midwest and environmental groups who fear that a leak could contaminate an aquifer which supplies water in the region.
Occupy Atlanta has been camping in a downtown park for the past week. The protest is part of a national movement opposing corporate greed and other issues. The situation has created a quandary for police and Atlanta officials, who have asked them to leave the park by Monday.
