A New York City-based sculptor is using her South Dakota heritage to shape her artwork.
McLaughlin native Carol Hepper's sculptures include natural mediums that feature branches, animal skins and animal bones.
Hepper is a graduate of South Dakota State University and will return to her alma mater on Friday to open up her exhibit, "inside the Between," at the South Dakota Art Museum.
A reception and artist gallery talk will open the exhibit at 4:30 p.m. at the museum. Hepper will describe her artistic journey at 5:30 p.m.
