Lawmakers will have a chance to debate a bill that could give Gov. Dave Heineman the power to reroute the proposed Keystone XL pipeline through Nebraska.
Sen. Chris Langemeier of Schuyler said Thursday that his bill (LB4) has advanced out of the Natural Resources Committee. The committee moved the bill out with a 7-1 vote.
Langemeier says the vote did not reflect support for the measure. He says several committee members who opposed the bill voted to advance it so the full Legislature could debate it. Langemeier says his bill was amended, but still includes language that would give Gov. Dave Heineman the final say for state
The lone no vote on the panel came from Sen. Jim Smith of Papillion, who has questioned whether the measure is constitutional.
