The man charged with a weekend murder in Sioux Falls was released from prison last Thursday because he had complied with the rules and regulations in the penitentiary.
41-year-old James McVay is charged with killing 75-year-old Maybelle Schein on Saturday and then stealing her car.
He was caught in Madison, Wisconsin where he told authorities he was on a cross-country killing spree to assassinate the President.
McVay was released on parole last week after serving time for grand theft and an escape.
But, he never had a parole hearing because he followed all the rules in prison and was listed as 'compliant' so he was automatically released.
Tony Galli of WKOW talked with McVay from the Dane county jail this afternoon. To hear the interview click on the video player.
