A special election for the city's new events center could be held this fall.
The Sioux Falls City Council will vote on an ordinance to put that plan in motion on Monday night. The ordinance calls for a special election on November 8 so the people of Sioux Falls can vote on the issue. The proposed events center would be built at a cost of no more than $115 million, according to the ordinance.
The special election will cost the city $45,000. The money to pay for that will be taken from the general fund. The council will also vote on an ordinance that would allow that money to be used for the special election.
Before those votes take place, the city council is scheduled to get an update on the events center project from Mayor Mike Huether. That will take place during the 4 p.m. Informational meeting. Click on the video player below to watch the presentation.
