Man Sentenced For Attempted Murder In Shooting

A Rapid City man convicted of attempted murder in a shooting last December outside the Lakota Nation Invitational basketball tournament has been sentenced to 50 years in prison.

Judge Thomas Trimble gave 20-year-old Simon Torres 25 years on the attempted murder charge and 25 years for commission of a felony with a firearm. Torres will be eligible for parole in 25 years.

Torres was convicted late last month of shooting and critically injuring Shane Bordeaux. He also was ordered to pay nearly $43,000 in restitution.
