Leader Of Tea Sex Ring Admits To Trafficking

SIOUX FALLS, SD

A South Dakota man accused of leading an online prostitution ring involving at least 10 underage girls will spend at least 15 years in prison.

Twenty-seven-year-old Brandon Thompson of Tea reached a plea deal with federal prosecutors and pleaded guilty to one count of sex trafficking of a child and one count of solicitation to murder a federal witness. Prosecutors dropped 24 other charges.

The sex trafficking charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years. The charge related to threats against witnesses has a maximum sentence of 20 years.

The case brought down Thompson's roommate for her role in transporting the girls from house to hotel and halted the career of a Sioux Falls doctor who became a frequent customer.
