Corn Palace Director Mark Schilling says the 2011 Corn Palace Festival and other fall events at the Mitchell tourist attraction were profitable.
The Corn Palace Festival, two pedal pull events and the polka festival turned a profit of just over $29,000.
The Corn Palace Festival itself brought in a profit that topped $15,000, following three consecutive years of losses. Schilling says the last festival to be as successful was when Willie Nelson headlined a show here several years ago.
He says the Corn Palace has a good agent who makes promising acts available to him as long as he's ready to make a quick decision.
