Crews Control Wildfire In Southwest South Dakota

dewey, sd

Crews battling a wildfire in southwest South Dakota were able to contain the fire Tuesday thanks to moisture that fell in the form of rain and then snow.

Officials say the human-caused fire was under control as of Tuesday evening. Firefighters will monitor the fire over the next several days to make sure the interior is out.

The exact cause of the Line Creek Fire northeast of Hot Springs was not immediately determined, but officials say it was caused by a human. Fire officials said the blaze covered 625 acres of private land and 20 acres of land within the boundaries of the Black Hills National Forest.
