Best Buy is the first, major retail chain in Sioux Falls to support the "Build It Now" events center campaign.
Ryan Hutchinson is a business solutions advisor for Best Buy. We asked him why the company decided to formally join the campaign.
"We're absolutely interested in what the possibilities could be," Best Buy business solutions advisor Ryan Hutchinson said.
Does that mean it's possible the major retailer would be interested in naming rights? Hutchinson says not yet, but the jury is still out until the November vote.
"It's in the cards for a lot of places and we're working to see if it can be in the cards for Sioux Falls too," Hutchinson said.
Build It Now's campaign manager is excited to add Best Buy to the list of businesses in support of the project.
"We're elated and ecstatic to have a major retailer like Best Buy join the likes of Sanford and Avera in support of a new events center," Build It Now campaign manager Mike Knuth said.
Knuth says more than 500 individuals have signed up in support of Build It Now.
According to the South Dakota Department of Revenue, there are more than 10,000 active businesses with a Sioux Falls address.
Right now, Build It Now has the support of 51 of them. We asked Knuth if he was happy with the public response to the campaign thus far.
"We couldn't be happier. We're looking forward to an active campaign that will start roughly the middle of September. And we'll be out using the usual mediums with the paid media and earned media attending various functions and sporting events trying to get the message out," Knuth said.
Of the 51 businesses listed in support of the events center campaign, some of them are owned by the same person. Knuth believes there are about 30 different business owners on the list.
