Bank Customer Talks About Facing Armed Robber

A suspected bank robber, Jeremy Bullock, 32, of Inwood, Iowa, is in jail after some tense moments involving a gun and a high speed chase.

It started in the small town of Centerville, south of Sioux Falls, at the First Midwest Bank.  But it all ended near Turkey Ridge some 30 miles away.

With weapons drawn and search dogs by their sides, authorities were hot on the trail of the suspected bank robber, even by air.  After robbing the First Midwest Bank in Centerville, the suspect ran off.

Arlene Bryenldson was one of the customers inside at the time.

"When we walked in, me & my son, he was telling the clerk, put the money in the bag, when he waved his gun at us and told us to get the hell out," Bryenldson said

Bryenldson is thankful she got out alive.

"Well, I headed to the grocery store & I was thinking that could have been a lot worse," Bryenldson said

After our interview, we were leaving town when officers began chasing the suspect who was no longer on foot.  There was a report of a stolen pickup truck from a propane company and a chase ensued reaching speeds of 90 miles per hour.

A former federal police officer who now lives in the area says he was surprised anyone would want to rob a bank in a small midwestern town.

"That guy must be crazy. You know in a small town everybody's got a gun and a cell phone," Jim Wainscoat said.

After two hours, the suspect got out of a stolen truck and got out on foot, pointing a gun at an officer. And just hours after the robbery, officials took him into custody.

Bryenldson says she's lived in the Centerville area most of her life and didn't recognize the armed man.
