You may not always have a choice about when you need to see a doctor or have an operation, but if you have the choice, you might want to avoid July.
Health experts say that's because the more-seasoned residents tend to leave hospitals in July and the newest med school graduates begin their residencies in the same month.
A recent study actually took a closer look at the problem by investigating death rates and complications at hospitals throughout the year.
The research shows that at teaching hospitals where new doctors are trained, patient death rate increase and efficiencies in patient care actually decrease during the month of July.
