Weather Poses Challenge For Fire Crews

spearfish, sd

It's another difficult day on the fire lines as crews continue to battle a fire in the Black Hills.  The hot and windy conditions aren't helping.

The sky is cloudy with smoke in the Black Hills.  That's because of multiple wildfires burning in the area.

The Crow Peak fire was only five percent contained as of noon on Monday.  It grew from 40 acres on Sunday to 50 acres on Monday.

Three helicopters are being used to fight the fire in addition to crews on the ground.

They are hoping to get a handle on the fire on Monday because the forecast for Tuesday calls for the weather to be hotter, drier and windier.

At this point, no buildings are threatened by the fire and crews hope their efforts keep it that way.
