This season of giving is an important time of year for non-profits searching for funding.
Some KELOLAND companies are helping with the cause. Customers at the Watertown AT&T store can know some of the money they've paid to the company is helping feed local kids.
"This year, we began serving many more children and we're serving almost 350 children every week," Sara Nelson said.
Nelson is president of Watertown’s PACH program, which sends food home with kids who need it on the weekend. AT&T announced a $6,000 donation to the organization Wednesday.
"We're just really excited to partner up with a local Watertown PACH program," AT&T area manager Michele Reiman said.
Reiman says the company will donate during other times as well, but she considers it a blessing to be able to help during this season of giving.
Down the street, more kids will be getting toys thanks to a donation.
For every car sold over the past couple weeks, owners of the Auto Mart donated $100 to Toys for Tots. The two men even went to the store and picked out the donated items themselves.
"We don't know much about girl toys, but we were picking through boys and girls and all ages and it was a lot of fun," co-owner Joe Medanich said.
They sold six cars during the promotion, but threw in some extra money themselves.
Nelson says her food organization if thankful for the donation it received. She calls this an important time for donor supported organizations.
"We do get a boost in donations, both food donations and monetary donations during this time of year, which we're thankful for," Nelson said.
And she's thankful people simply doing business in town can help with those donations as well.
