Water Being Diverted At Gavins Point Dam

Yankton, SD

The spillway at Gavins Point Dam looks a little like it did during the height of the flood in 2011.

The Army Corps of Engineers is releasing the same amount of water it normally does, but it looks like a lot more because all of the flow is being diverted to one side of the spillway.

The spillway on the South Dakota side of the river is blocked off right now while construction crews complete maintenance and repairs. The road above the dam was also closed Monday while crews were working.
