Two Local Bands Featured In Rose Bowl Parade

PASADENA, ca

A Sioux Falls high school marching band got its moment in the spotlight this New Year's Day.

The Lincoln High School band performed in the Rose Bowl Parade for the fourth time in its history.

The 242 member band is one of just 16 schools chosen for the honor.  They were also asked to perform a 45-second feature as they turned the corner in Pasadena.

This is Lincoln band director Bob Carlson's last Rose Bowl parade because he is retiring after leading marching bands for 44 years.  His sons will take over for him at Lincoln.

The Pride of the Dutchmen Marching Band from the MOC-Floyd Valley School District out of Orange City, Iowa, also appeared in the parade in their wooden shoes.
