Thousands Head To Canton For Car Show

Canton, SD

This weekend, thousands of people filled the streets of downtown Canton for the annual Canton Area Car Show.

There were around 350 cars in today's show, featuring all types of Corvettes and Mustangs to Firebirds and Rat Rods. There were also motorcycles and even an old tractor on display.

This area car show has been bringing people to Canton for about 30 years, and even though last month's flooding made planning the event a little difficult, car show participants say it helps residents of Canton take their mind off of the disaster.

“I think this show gives them a chance to just get away from home, have some fun, meet some other people, and just get that off their mind for even one day,” participant Paul Roberts said.

The Lincoln County Cruisers sponsor the event as a nonprofit organization, giving back to community organizations such as the local food pantry and Love Inc.
