Sunday Boredom Busters, March 4th

There's more quarterfinal action today at the Summit League Basketball Tournament at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls. The women's bracket tips-off at noon with Denver playing Oral Roberts, followed by Western Illinois against Omaha at 2:30 p.m. The men's bracket features Fort Wayne against North Dakota State at 6 p.m. followed by Denver against Oral Roberts at 8:30 p.m. 

If you don't have tickets to the games you can still attend the free Fan Fest in the Sioux Falls Arena. There will be activities like pep rallies, three-point contests and photo opportunities with the Summit League championship trophy.  Fan Fest goes from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. 
  
Great Bear Recreation Park is hosting one of the final races of the season. All proceeds from the All-Age Ski & Snowboard Races go to the Parkinson's Foundation in memory of Don DeHaan. Great Bear is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.  

The Fisher Watkins' Kids Carnival is a fundraiser for the rare genetic disorder known as Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome. The benefit goes from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Tea American Legion and includes kid’s games, a silent auction, basket raffle, music, food and a bake sale.  A handmade wagon will also be raffled.  Carnival tickets are $4; raffle tickets cost $1 and $5.
 
Benson's Flea Market features vendors selling antiques and collectibles in the Expo Building at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds. Today's hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Admission is $2, free for kids 12 and under.
 
The Sioux Valley Model Train Club is hosting a free Open House at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds.  The open house runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes the largest model train layout in South Dakota. The open house is on the north end of the fairgrounds, across from the old armory.
  
The South Dakota Symphony Orchestra presents Bernstein & Beethoven, a concert featuring the music of composers Leonard Berstein and Luwig van Beethoven. The performance is at 2:30 in the Mary W. Sommervold Hall at the Washington Pavilion.
That's followed by a 7 p.m. concert by the South Dakota Symphony Youth Orchestra.  

The Augustana University band and orchestra chamber ensembles perform a concert today at 3 p.m. in the Kresge Recital Hall on the Augie campus.  Tickets are $10, $5 for students and seniors. 
 
Films playing at the Wells Fargo CineDome in the Washington Pavilion include Journey to Space, Mysteries of China and Amazon Adventure.

New Hollywood releases playing at a theater near you include Red Sparrow and Death Wish, both rated R.
