Son Named Person Of Interest In NW Iowa Deaths

Akron, IA

Court documents show the man described as a person of interest in the deaths of an elderly couple is their son.

Plymouth County, Iowa, authorities found the bodies of Donald and Esther Neunaber in their Akron home Wednesday night.

Thursday evening, the Plymouth County Sheriff named Jonathan Neunaber as a person of interest in the deaths.  He was stopped in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, where he made a court appearance Friday afternoon.

According to documents from Wisconsin, Jonathan lived with his parents and is a lifelong resident of Akron.  While he was regularly seen around town, no one remembers seeing him for several days before his parents' bodies were found.  A vehicle that belongs to the parents was also missing.

Investigators say the victims were dead for several days, possibly up to two weeks, before the bodies were found.  An autopsy is scheduled to take place on Friday.
