Sioux Falls Stadium Hosts Moving Day

Sioux Falls, SD

A worthy medical cause had people walking in Sioux Falls on Saturday.

The National Parkinson's South Dakota chapter had its third annual Moving Day today at Sioux Falls Stadium. More than 100 people attended the walked around the Birdcage's baseball diamond.

“Parkinson's affects movement, and so that's why the name is called 'moving day' because it is about getting out and doing what you can. Cause exercise is so beneficial in every aspect of your life, especially for those living with Parkinson's, so you're not only helping those who are affected by this disease, but you're supporting them. For those that may not be able to walk, you're out there moving, getting the exercise for them,” Executive Director for the National Parkinson’s Foundation Janey Case said.

Through donations and fundraisers such like bake and garage sales prior to Saturday's walk, the organization was at least close to meeting its $32,500 goal. The walk wasn't the only such event in KELOLAND this weekend; Watertown's community rec center also hosted a Moving Day Walk today.
