Sioux Falls Home Damaged By Fire

Sioux Falls, SD

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire on the 2300 block of South Wayland Circle late Wednesday night.

Just after 11:30 p.m., crews reported smoke and flames coming from the lower level of a single-family residential home. Crews entered the lower level and extinguished the fire in approximately 15 minutes. Two cats succumbed to smoke inhalation and did not survive.

A resident sustained injuries before crews arrived. The man was treated and released at the scene by Rural Metro paramedics.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would remind residents to have working smoke detectors and a practiced escape plan in the event of a fire emergency.
