Shelterbelt Renovation

Pierre, SD

The state Agriculture Department is holding workshops in northwestern South Dakota on how to renovate shelterbelts.

The free workshops will provide information on how to evaluate shelterbelts and plan improvements. Information will include replacing or removing selected trees and shrubs.

John Hinners of the Agriculture Department says drastic drops in temperature, heavy snow, high winds and drought can damage and kill trees in shelterbelts.

The workshops will be held February 12 in Buffalo and Bison, February 13 in Dupree and Faith, and February 14 in McIntosh and Timber Lake.
