SF Company Provides Firefighters Breakfast

Sioux Falls, SD

As we pause and remember where we were on 9/11, the simplest of gestures can make the biggest difference. And one Sioux Falls company decided to show its appreciation bright and early.

The Central Fire Station is celebrating its 100th anniversary this week. But one day captures a century's worth of service.

"Today, there's a lot more emotion running with all the events that did happen in the past," Mike Clarke with HealthSource Chiropractic said.

It's been more than a decade since 9/11, but on the 11th anniversary, firefighters are starting off the day on the right foot. HealthSource Chiropractic brought bagels to the station to show its support.

"They do a ton and it's just a nice way for us to say, 'Hey, we appreciate it and here you go. Here's breakfast on us,' basically," Justin McKillip of HealthSource Chiropractic said.

"It's just something small we can do," Clarke said. "I mean, they do many, many great things for the city, so it shows a small token of appreciation."

And while the significance of the day isn't lost on these hard-working men and women, the purpose behind the gesture is to recognize what they do each and every day.

"It means a lot," McKillip said. "My uncle actually used to be a firefighter in Sioux Falls and he passed away from cancer, so it means a lot to be able to get out and just give a thank you back because they do a lot throughout the year."

HealthSource management says they make it an annual tradition to bring firefighters some breakfast on September 11.
