Setting Up For Road Work On 8th And Cliff

Sioux Falls, SD

The orange barrels are going up at a busy intersection on the east side of Sioux Falls.

Starting Tuesday, construction will begin at 8th & Cliff.  Three blocks of 8th street, from Fairfax to Sherman will be closed.  Traffic on Cliff will be reduced to one lane in each direction.  Crews will straighten-out the intersection to improve the traffic flow.

“8th Street does not line up on each side of Cliff Avenue, there's a little bit of a skew there.  This project, we're going to actually realign 8th Street on the west side of Cliff and line it up with the east side,” Principle Engineer Joshua Peterson said.

8th Street traffic will be detoured to 6th Street.  Work on Cliff Avenue should be completed by mid-June.  The entire project will be finished in October.
